from a student’s answer to an exam question…

June 1, 2012

Scientists like evidence of patterns, its very validating for them.

If the student had just changed ‘patterns’ to ‘hypotheses’ or something, this would have been pretty deep. Kinda makes me question my life choices. Did I become a scientist to feel validated? I mean…I do feel validated when one of my ideas works out. Is this what keeps me doing science? Maybe that Feynman book should have been called ‘The validation of finding things out’?
